Inspired by light fading over spinifex on the beach at the remote Ningaloo Station in the North West of Australia.

This series of paintings were inspired by a trip to the remote Ningaloo Station during the recent solar eclipse. Although it would be tempting to just focus on imagery of the eclipse itself, I found that I was more drawn to my experience of the slightly eery atmosphere created by the reduced light. As most people were observing the eclipse I turned away and observed the surrounding landscape, and the undefined quality of light that was neither dawn nor dusk. It created a quiet, a restful feeling of ‘pause’ — there was nothing to do except be present and simply observe.
